How can I reserve a stay with you?
It's simple. Just give us a call or send an email with the dates you need care and a bit of general info about your dog(s).  We will get in touch with you within 24 hours to confirm and talk further about your dog.

How far in advance do I need to book?
Space is limited to ensure all dogs receive the love and attention they deserve. Weekends and Holidays generally book up months in advance so it's best to call ahead. One week notice for other times of the year is usually sufficient. We understand that emergencies happen, so please give us a call and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancellations may be made up to 5 days in advance of the scheduled visit. After that period, a cancellation fee of 25% of the total bill will be charged. Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel a visit.

What do I need to pack for my dogs stay at Canine Caretakers?
Along with the required paperwork and proof of vaccines please bring a generous supply of your dogs regular food, to ensure digestive consistency, as well as any medications your dog is on. We provide all bowls, leashes, toys, balls, treats and bedding.

Do I need to bring a crate?
No, we have crates available for those who request them.  Puppies still in the chewing phase, as well as those who are destructive or not fully potty trained will sleep in crates.

What happens if my dog runs out of food while I am away?
We will not let your dog go without food. However, it is recommended that you bring a little extra food. If your dog runs out of food, the cost of the food we purchased will be added to your bill.

What happens if my dog gets sick or injured at Canine Caretakers?
All clients are required to complete a veterinary release form. We will not knowingly accept sick dogs. We believe that sick dogs should be under the care of a veterinarian. If your dog needs medical attention while at Canine Caretakers, we will take them to the nearest veterinarian or Animal Emergency Clinic. We will make every effort to contact you and receive instructions before we take an animal in for medical care. However, in emergency situations or if you cannot be reached, we will not hesitate to take a dog to the veterinarian. Canine Caretakers is not responsible for costs incurred from veterinary visits.

What if my dog doesn't get along with the other dogs at Canine Caretakers?
Companion dogs are generally very friendly and tolerant.  Aside from not accepting aggressive dogs, we always supervise dog interaction.  If a situation arises where certain dogs are not getting along we have the capacity to separate them; this is handled on a case by case basis.  In general we have found that dogs quickly find their pecking order and enjoy running, romping and playing with each other.

Do you have breed restrictions?
No, we care for all breeds.

Will you let me know how my dog is doing?
Yes, we are happy to!  You can call or email anytime to check on your dog(s). We can also send text updates!

Can you train my dog while he's at Canine Caretakers?
All dogs in our care are given basic obedience commands on a daily basis.  For example; we ask all dogs to "sit" and "wait" before feedings as well as going outside; while leash walking we reinforce basic "heeling" skills as well as fun games of recall which helps reinforce the "come" command.   We only use positive reinforcement techniques.  If you are interested in more personalized training or behavior modification we do offer those services separately from our boarding and daycare services.

What are my payment options?
Payment is due upon pick-up of your dogs. We currently accept cash and checks.
